Merseyrail Customer Satisfaction Survey Merseytravel        Merseyrail

What non users and infrequent users said

Non UsersAs well as finding out what our regular passengers think of Merseyrail, we also wanted to understand the views of people who don’t use Merseyrail very often, or at all.

We carried out 1000 on-street interviews throughout Merseyside. Here’s what they told us:

Just over half of respondents (54.3%) had travelled with Merseyrail within the last six months. These respondents are referred to as ‘infrequent users’, with the remaining 45.7% of respondents referred to as ‘non users’.

We wanted to find out the main reasons why infrequent users do not use Merseyrail more regularly:

  • 36.2% said they had no reason to travel outside their area

  • 21.7% prefer to use the car

  • 15.6% prefer to travel by bus.

We also wanted to know why non users never use Merseyrail:

  • 31.9% prefer to travel by car

  • 16.2% said they have no reason to travel outside their area

  • 13.1% prefer to travel by bus.

This shows that although some people prefer other modes of transport, many have good opinions of Merseyrail and simply have no reason to use our services.
