Your priorities for improvement on the trains

Improving the trainsWe also asked how you would like our trains to be improved in the future. You said you wanted to see:

  • Increased capacity (19.9% of respondents) - you would like to see all peak trains extended to 6 carriages, and the frequency of off-peak services increased.

  • Improved security (17.5% of respondents) - you wanted to see increased police presence and security patrols, as well as regulations enforced and offenders prosecuted so you could feel safer when travelling.

  • Improved reliability and punctuality (13.0% of respondents) - you would like all trains to leave on time and not be delayed or cancelled.

Many of you also made very positive comments about our services, and highlighted the improvements that have been made over the last few years, saying that no further improvements were necessary.

Ongoing improvements:

  • We are increasing the number of 6-carriage trains, and aim to do more to match passenger numbers to capacity wherever possible.

  • We are working on plans to increase the frequency of the Chester service during weekdays and Saturdays.

  • We have also been working hard on improving security, and have extended and upgraded the CCTV on all trains and employed 35 more security officers, and we are now one of the safest and most secure rail networks in the country.

  • Even though we are in the top 3 train companies in the UK for reliability and punctuality, averaging just over 95%, we are always looking at improving the reliability of the tracks and signals in partnership with Network Rail.
